What is Hypnotherapy and How Does it Work?

Hypnotherapy is a skilled verbal communication that stimulates our imagination to bring about changes in our feelings, thoughts and behaviors. A number of studies show that the subconscious part of the mind is responsible for 90 - 95 percent of our thoughts and actions. Hypnotherapy reprograms these patterns within the mind to diminish negative thoughts and eliminate unwanted behaviors. This process works by creating a deep state of relaxation in which the conscious control of the mind is lessened and the subconscious mind is awakened. Because the subconscious mind is a much deeper force than the conscious mind, it is this deeper part of our psyche that must be accessed to enable behavioral change to take place.

When totally relaxed, our body rhythms slow down, allowing our breathing and heart rate to reach baseline levels.  This relaxed state allows the mind to detach from worries and undesirable emotions, creating a very effective way to treat stress and anxiety.  Prolonged stress released excessive amounts of cortisol into the bloodstream.  This can cause a variety of serious illnesses such as high blood pressure, heart disease and sleep disorders.  Psychologically it often leads to a sense of feeling overwhelmed, blocking our attempts to create needed changes in our lives.  Hypnotherapy is a natural, non-intrusive alternative to medications--a safe and effective way to treat anxiety and stress related disorders so that we can make positive changes and move on with our lives.

What else can hypnotherapy do for us?  It can improve focus, concentration, direction, perspective, sleep, confidence and self esteem, insight, relationships and more. It can be used for many other problems including weight control, trauma, depression, procrastination, limiting self beliefs, fears and phobias, pain management, insomnia and stop smoking. It is also widely used for performance enhancement in areas such as public speaking, test taking and sports. How to prepare for a session..... You don't need any special preparation to undergo hypnosis. But it is a good idea to wear comfortable clothing and be well rested so that you do not fall asleep.
